Today we honor Ms. Tiffany Thomas on School Librarian Appreciation Day. Ms. Thomas integrates the love of reading with multimedia skills for our B.L. students. Whether it's diving into a good story, learning to type, or using technology to explore, we are thankful for the impact Ms. Thomas has on our young Trojans!

Small school, BIG hearts: Trojans help each other! We are proud to report that this year's "Emily's Project" fundraiser had a record year, raising over $2,000 this month for the newly established "The Jen and Jake Project"! We are grateful for students who lead the way with their efforts to support our community. We are also grateful for the unwavering support of parents, families, and neighbors. Together, our small school has made a huge impact on local non-profits in honor of "Emily's Project," totaling over $22,000 raised since 2017.

To celebrate this huge "Emily's Project" milestone, students got to turn Mr. Clark into a human sundae! Fun was had and good work was done this month! Way to go Trojans!

March Madness is wrapping up at McKinley and we are proud of our generous Trojans and community. These McKinley students selected “The Jake and Jen Project” to support through the efforts of “Emily’s Project”.

Sebring community members founded the Jake and Jen Project to raise awareness about the impact strong mental health has on military families. Each year, McKinley students select a non-profit to be the beneficiary of "Emily's Project."

As part of their unit on the Great Depression, Mrs. Lee's American History students stepped into the experiences of Americans during the 1930s by creating their own Hoovervilles. Working in groups, they designed and constructed small shantytowns using limited materials to represent the makeshift shelters many unemployed families built during the economic crisis. Students also created a budget to understand the difficult financial choices families faced during this time. The class prepared and tasted “Hoover Stew,” a simple meal inspired by foods people could afford during the Depression.

Mrs. Everhart’s class took a lesson from the 7-Mindset program and put it into practice. The lesson centered around the concept of “Thanking it Forward”, recognizing the important work each of us contributes to our environment. Students thought of someone who works in our school who does not receive much recognition. Nearly all the students thought of our custodian, Mr. Miller. Students decided to make Mr. Miller a card and got him donuts. A great example of students “Thanking it Forward”.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
When Mrs. Mathias asked her senior Trojans what Sebring traditions from B.L. Miller they missed most, "Special Persons Lunch" was the unanimous answer and so began a fun assignment for Senior English class.

Students organized a "Special Persons Lunch" recently for which they created "Food for Thought" conversation starters. Seniors invited a special guest to lunch and delved into questions like, "What advice would you give your senior?"What is a quality you hope they never lose?"", and "What is something they taught you?". It was a wonderful experiential learning day for our seniors as they quickly approach the end of their time at McKinley!

A BIG Trojan Congratulations to Mrs. Mathias, who won "Educator of the Year" at last night's Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber's award ceremony.

Last night marked the second consecutive year a Trojan teacher won a prestigious category at the valley's "Educator of the Year" award ceremony. We are a district full of talented, dedicated, exemplary educators and we are proud that Mrs. Mathias was honored as a reflection not only of our district but of our entire Sebring community. Mrs. Mathias accepted her award in front of 400 attendees and nominees from districts across the tri-county area. Perhaps the biggest evidence of Mrs. Mathias' positive influence was that Sebring graduate, Ryan Burd, was also nominated for the top award and was seated at her table. Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Mathias for her impact and incredible contributions to our district!
