If you've been to football game this fall you may have noticed The Trojan Marching Band has grown to 44 members! To accommodate the growth, our band has new uniforms this year. This year’s band is the largest in recent years. Under the direction of YSU graduate Mr. Wyatt Engstrom, the band is thriving and sounding great!

This month, students at B.L. Miller Elementary School received an exciting and educational visit from the town’s local fire department. Sebring Firefighters spent the morning teaching students the importance of fire safety and what to do in case of an emergency.
The visit was part of National Fire Prevention Week, a campaign aimed at educating communities about fire hazards and safety practices. Dressed in full gear, the firefighters spoke to students about how to recognize fire risks, the importance of smoke detectors, and how to create a family escape plan.

A big "Sebring Shout-Out" to our Economy Club students who embarked on their annual "Trick or Treating for Turkeys" initiative this weekend. Students canvassed the village for their annual fundraiser which seeks to gather money for turkeys to be included in holiday food baskets. Trojans help each other and these students are leading the way!

We are resuming our "New Teacher Feature" this week with another Sebring graduate. Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Abigail Linerode home as a new Trojan staff member!

Monday was the "National Day of Writing" and Mrs. Mathias celebrated with her students by engaging in nature writing projects. Writing is a critical component of learning and students routinely exercise their writing skills in Mrs. Mathias' class. This week students are engaging in writing projects about nature in which they observe nature settings and write about it. Some seniors even braved the rain today! Take a look:

Notice:

McKinley has set another school record! We are elated to announce that McKinley has been ranked 5th out of 607 Ohio schools in preparing students for their futures. This achievement is one to be shared with our entire Trojan community because it is the result of collaborative support between our educators, students, and families. Thank you to our staff, students, and community for putting McKinley on the map!

Superintendent Viscounte had the distinct honor of presenting a local WWII veteran an honorary Sebring diploma last week. Mr. Don Murphy left Sebring Local Schools on November 30, 1934, to join the Merchant Marines, serving as a seaman for the Isthmian Steamship Company in New York City. His dedication to his country continued as he later transferred to the United States Army, where he served honorably as a military policeman. After years of service, he was honorably discharged in February of 1947, having contributed faithfully to both the maritime and military efforts during a pivotal time in our nation’s history.
As Mrs. Viscounte remarked at last week's ceremony, "This diploma stands as a lasting symbol of Mr. Murphy's sacrifice, courage, and commitment to our country. We thank Mr. Murphy for his service, for the freedoms we enjoy today, and for the example he continues to set for generations to come."

Third graders recently welcomed a special guest to their classroom. Mrs. Swogger is a Trojan staff member and a beekeeper. She visited third grade to discuss the life cycles and characteristics of bees. She also explained the jobs of beekeepers. This was a particularly enriching experience for students as it connected to their life cycles studies and their Flat Stanley career projects. The best part of the day? Sampling some of Mrs. Swogger’s bee honey from a cracker!

October is National Principals Month. Please join us in recognizing our wonderful Sebring Principals, Mr. Clark (McKinley Jr./Sr. High) and Mrs. Hanley (B.L. Miller Elementary) for their dedicated leadership!

Congratulations to our 2025 Homecoming King, Gage Mates, and Homecoming Queen, Alayna Braham. The pair was crowned at last week's Homecoming Game.

Reminder!

Trojans support each other! A shout-out to Mrs. Mathias and her Success and Wellness students who have been busy unloading, organizing, and stocking the food pantry. This is a true Trojan team effort as Mrs. Malloy picks up and loads items and Mr. Miller assists with unloading.

Congratulations to our 2025 Fall Homecoming Court!

Third grade recently learned about the history of The United States Constitution with virtual reality headsets. Students were able to virtually visit prominent historical locations as our country was officially being formed. The places visited included: The Besty Ross house, Liberty Bell and Constitution Hall, Pentagon, 9/11 locations.

We are starting our week with "Hello"!
"Start with Hello" is a nation-wide initiative to encourage kindness, understanding, and acceptance amongst our students. Sebring recently participated in "Start with Hello" activities that encourage students to be the "I" in kindness and to celebrate the concept of understanding each other. Take a look at our kind Trojans!

Today's "New Trojan Team Member" feature is more like a "welcome home"! Miss Whaley is a new 2nd grade teacher, but she is a Trojan! Miss Whaley graduated from Sebring in 2021 and now she's back as a teacher. Let's welcome Miss Whaley home!

A few weeks ago, we marked the somber anniversary of 9/11. B.L. students may not have been born to experience the tragedy of 9/11, but they paid tribute to our nation's bravest with a meaningful Patriot Day display which still remains in the hallway of B.L.
