Laure-Golden-Educator

The Sebring Local School District is proud to announce that Leann Laure, a third-grade teacher at B.L. Miller Elementary, has been honored with the Regional Chamber's prestigious Mahoning Valley Golden Educator of the Year Award.

The inaugural Mahoning Valley Educator of the Year ceremony recognized 33 educators across the tri-county area with five special awards. The Golden Educator Award celebrates an exceptional teacher with over 20 years of experience, and Laure, with 31 years of teaching, certainly fits that distinction.

“This well-deserved recognition is a testament of her dedication and impact on Sebring’s students and school community,” said Sebring Local Schools Superintendent Toni Viscounte. “We are incredibly proud to have Leann as part of our Trojan family.”

Laure’s teaching philosophy, which emphasizes hands-on learning and individualized attention, has made a significant impact on countless students over the years. Her commitment to helping each child succeed has earned her admiration among colleagues and families alike.

“I believe every child learns in their own unique way,” Laure said. “As an educator, I strive to provide diverse teaching strategies that allow each student to explore, experience, and fully understand the subject matter. I want every student to feel engaged and excited about learning.”

Laure's dedication extends beyond academic achievement, fostering a strong sense of community among students, parents, and faculty. “It truly takes a village to educate our children,” she added. “Parental involvement, communication, and community outreach are essential in helping students thrive. I’m proud to work in a community where we all support one another in our shared goal of student success.”

Elementary Principal Nichole Hanley, who nominated Laure for the award, describes her as an irreplaceable member of the school community.

“When you think of an exemplary teacher, Mrs. Laure is the first person who comes to mind,” Hanley said. “Her dedication to the growth and development of each student, along with her tireless commitment to supporting families in our community, is truly inspiring. She doesn’t just teach; she makes a profound difference in the lives of everyone around her.”

Laure has been a key leader in the school’s PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) program, which has earned B.L. Miller Elementary multiple PBIS awards. Her leadership goes beyond the classroom as well, where she has organized and funded resources for families in need, particularly during the holiday season.

“Mrs. Laure is a true leader,” Hanley continued. “Her ability to mentor and guide fellow teachers, create a culture of joy and collaboration, and provide unwavering support to students makes her an extraordinary candidate for the Mahoning Valley Educator of the Year Award. Her well-deserved honor as the Golden Educator is truly fitting.”
