Blake-thomas

Sebring Local Schools is proud to recognize Blake Thomas, senior at Sebring McKinley High School, who has committed to continue her volleyball and academic career on scholarship at Baldwin Wallace University, beginning this Fall of 2024.

At the top of her class, Thomas was awarded the President’s Scholarship and the Governor’s Merit Scholarship, which is reserved for the top 5 percent of graduating seniors. In addition to academic scholarships, she is the recipient of several grants. She plans to study chemical engineering.

Excelling on the court as well, Thomas has received first team, second team and honorable mention all-district as well as first team and second team for the Mahoning Valley Athletic Conference.

“This accomplishment means everything to me,” says Thomas. “It has been my dream to play this sport at the collegiate level ever since I first picked up a volleyball in 5th grade.”

Thomas plays the position of outside and right side hitter. She will continue her volleyball career under Head Coach Kate Latkovic.

"Blake signing and committing to BW continues to dispel the conception that students from smaller high schools will not get noticed, or have opportunities to play collegiately,” says Sebring Local Schools Athletic Director, Anthony Agresta. “We are extremely proud of her and can't wait to see how much she can achieve in the next four years."

Thomas is also a member of the Sebring McKinley football and softball teams, and serves as the senior class vice president, member of NHS, Language Club, Ecology Club, Sebring Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), Choir, Drama Club, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
