Sebring B.L. Miller fifth-grade students attended the annual Outdoor Education Camp at Canaan Acres in Louisville last month, immersing themselves in a wide array of outdoor enrichment activities and hands-on experiences that go beyond the traditional classroom education.

Students were guided through wildlife exploration, trail hikes, tree and pond investigations, archery, fishing, candle-making, horseback riding, and team-building obstacle courses.

Malone College’s wildlife team brought along several creatures, including two turtles, a bat, a skunk, and a possum, leading the students through a hands-on lesson of local wildlife.

Stark Parks also contributed by providing wildlife boxes filled with pelts and other items for the students to explore.

Sebring Local Schools is proud to partner with Canaan Acres to provide such an enriching experience for its students and would also like to thank its staff and high school volunteers who served as camp counselors.
